Before you go
- Book the top picks. July is peak season — reserve the dark-card spots a day or two ahead, especially the small ones (DAMA, Zé Manel, A Nossa Casa). Many seat 16–30 people.
- Meal times run late. Lunch ~12:30–3, dinner ~7:30–10:30. Kitchens at some spots don't open until 7. A few close one or two days a week — closures are noted on each card.
- Carry some cash. A handful of the best old-school places (Zé Manel in Coimbra, a couple of Porto taverns) are cash-only.
- Healthy choices everywhere. Grilled fish, fresh seafood, and big salads are the Portuguese default. Each leg also has dedicated lighter/veg-forward spots marked 🌿.
- Everything is tappable → opens in Google Maps, with Directions and Call on each card. Works offline once loaded (add it to your home screen).
